Michael's teaching style draws on his many years of study and performance in Jazz, Brazilian, African, Latin, Classical and Pop styles. As an artist, Michael is a gifted guitarist and prolific composer. As a teacher Michael brings all of his experience to bear in a unique approach that yields results quickly!
Born in Kenosha Wisconsin, Michael moved to San Francisco at 18 and began his musical career. He has explored many styles with an emphasis on jazz and developed a special way of bridging these worlds together musically, creating a special sound that is personal and passionate. There is always a buzz in his music, a feeling of freshness and passion.
Michael has played with many of the Bay Area's/Worlds finest musicians, Bob Weir, Alan Hall, Scott Amendola, Paul Van Wagenigen, Jim Ogios (Sheryl Crow, Counting Crows), Deszon Claiborne, Lex Reazon (Vinyl), Todd Sickafoose, Derek Jones, Dan Fieszli, Sam Bevan, DannZinn, Matt Renzi, Jon Arkin, Mark Bernfield, Matt Huelitt, Andy Stohler (Tracey Chapman), Kim Nalley (Pearls), Sandy Griffith, Edo Castro, Andy Dillard, AureaFernandez. Michael has also appeared at many of the Top Festivals and Clubs, Yoshi's, Kimball's, Kumbya, Great Americian Music Hall, The Sweetwater, Concord Jazz Festival, North Beach Jazz Fesitival, San Jose Jazz Festival, just to name a few. Michael is also known for his song writing, studio & production work.

Classes for Fall 2011
*The Band Workshops is a 9-week journey, an opportunity for new and experienced musicians who are looking for a fun, supportive environment in which to explore music in a band setting. Combining a set of songs picked by the group, using individual and group exercises and positive feedback, this course will provide a nurturing chance to learn all about playing and performing in a group setting. Taught by Michael LaMacchia and his cadre of seasoned, supportive, professional musicians. All The Basic Band Workshops Will Be offered as well, Rock, Jazz, Blues, Bluegrass, Folk, Country, Original, Specialty Classes.

Limited to 4 students during the school semester, back by very high sucess rate..One on One.. 8 weeks of getting it all together, be ready to improve fast, you will have to do some homework.. Covering, technique, lines, idea development, practice habits that pay off quick, scales, chords, fills, basic on getting around the instrument. Intermediate to advanced, ask if not sure of level.
*Jazz Instrumental Class
The jazz classes will include more listening and responding exercises, more focus on arrangements and composition, sight reading, and some chord and scale theory. Of course the emphasis will be on playing, and playing as a group to get “the” sound.

We’ve heard your requests for a strong vocal teacher to lead and help with Crossroads classes, and we are so excited and proud to report that we have found the PERFECT PERSON. Sandy Griffith is an accomplished professional vocalist and vocal teacher. Gifted with a strong, rich, and soulful voice, Sandy can move the soul of the audience with her emotional energy and angelic-like presence. Sandy is the answer to Crossroads’ search for a wonderful professional vocal coach – she is (in addition to being a top notch performer with an amazing voice) warm, funny, smart and sweet, but also hard-nosed and very effective and direct when it comes to teaching vocalists. She knows what she’s doing as a teacher and does it well. Really well.
